MAXWELL HIGGINS IS THE TREASURE COAST CASTER OF THE YEAR - 2012-2013!!
Today we held the fish off for the Treasure Coast Caster of the Year. The top 5 middle & high school TCC's competed. The weather was perfect and the fishing was a little slow. All of the TCC's caught fish but quite a few were short or not on the list. On the list today was bluefish, croaker, flounder, mangrove snapper, pompano, redfish, sheepshead, snook, spanish mackerel and trout. We had every fish come to the scales except croakers and spanish mackerel. A total of 20 fish were caught and most were released.
The most notable catch of the tournament was a 8lb. 15oz. black drum caught by Maxwell Higgins. Maxwell was the only TCC to catch a pompano and he had two with one weighing 3lbs. John Remsburg also had a black drum but it was not on the list. Taylor Meding, Chad Stanley and Shane Surrency all had redfish with Chad's weighing 2lb. 12oz. Shane also had the only flounder. Colton Hester and Laine Pruitt had the only trout and one of Laine's weighed 1lb. 11oz. DJ Markowski had a bluefish that weighed 1lb. 2oz. and Trace Meding has a nice snapper. Savannah Ward had 2 snapper and a sheepshead that weighed 1lb. 9oz.
